What an incredible read, written from the heart. It is an honest and open account of the struggles, the successes and the sheer joy that is Finley's story. I would recommend reading this book to everyone, not just families who have a child with a disability. I lost my healthy, 21 year old son last year in a car collision and I can relate to some of the thoughts in the reflection pages too. Congratulations Claire!
This enlightening and compelling read tells the story of the first 20 years of Finley's life. It shows the strengths and difficulties of raising a child with complex special needs. By being undiagnosed, it also shares the fear of not knowing just how long his parents, family, and friends would have to share this special relationship. It shows vividly the trials and tribulations, of having a child with disabilities, but also the love and care that develops, and how for Claire and Carl, it strengthened their love for each other. I could not put the book down.
Just purchased this book after hearing very good reviews from a lady who has read it, looking forwards to receiving on Saturday.
A fantastic read. A story of Finley Stockton's life and the challenges he has faced including his family. It is very well written and helpful for other families looking after their disabled children. The chapters are divided well to help the reader.
Claire has written an open, honest account of the last twenty years of life as Finley's mum. It's also extremely practical for other parents who may be going through the same trauma. Trauma that has been thoroughly dissected to be a helpful, logical and step by step account to support the needs of other families. Well done on achieving this outcome.
